Senior Manager of Government and Community Affairs

The Senior Manager of Government and Community Affairs plays a pivotal role at El Museo as its key liaison to community, cultural, and government agencies, serving a broad constituency of not-for-profit organizations, grassroots leaders, schools, coalitions, and public offices. The Senior Manager is responsible for overseeing all activities relating to advocacy, public funding, and government and community relations.

Reporting to the Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director, the Senior Manager prepares city, requests and related reports, sometimes in collaboration with El Museo del Barrio’s development team. They work with public agencies, consortia, and alliances to help develop and implement cultural policies and respond to requests from elected and community officials on matters relating to the museum and the arts. The Senior Manager will seek and facilitate opportunities through public programs, collaboration and partnership with community organizations, libraries, universities, senior centers, civic groups, government entities and cultural organizations; these are to provide greater access to new and non-traditional museum audiences, in particular Latino audiences throughout the New York–metropolitan area.
