El Museo del Barrio is seeking a Coordinator of Public Programs to assist with the implementation of public programs for adult, family, and intergenerational audiences. This position, working closely with the Manager of Public Programs, conceptualizes, research, implements, and executes the Museum’s in-person, virtual and hybrid public programs. The coordinator will support the development of innovative public programs and community engagement strategies that reflect and build upon El Museo del Barrio’s mission, exhibitions, and permanent collection, including artist talks, panels and symposia, film programs, music and dance performances, health and wellness programs, art-making workshops, and large-scale community events and cultural celebrations.
The Curatorial Assistant supports El Museo del Barrio’s Curatorial department, and specifically the Chief Curator, in key administrative capacities. This post has a high level of public interface, including between other Museum departments and the public. They will manage general bilingual correspondence and meetings, and are responsible for maintaining the overall schedule, deadlines, and budgets pertinent to Curatorial projects. The Curatorial Assistant contributes to the planning and implementation of exhibitions, the Permanent Collection, publications and programming.
The Director of Development is responsible for conceptualizing, organizing, and implementing a comprehensive and strategic fundraising program in support of El Museo del Barrio’s mission and strategic priorities. Dually reporting to the Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director, the Director of Development will work in close partnership with the Executive Director, Deputy Executive Director, Board of Trustees, colleagues in the Development department, and across the organization to build a sustainable culture of philanthropy throughout the organization and expand El Museo’s base of support. The Director of Development will be a thought partner to the Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director in addressing institutional challenges, opportunities, and priorities. The Director of Development serves as a member of El Museo’s senior management team.
The Director of Development supervises a four-person team and will be empowered to examine and evolve all dimensions of the Development program in consultation with the Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director, including the organizational design, functional alignment, and fundraising infrastructure of the department.
The Senior Manager of Government and Community Affairs plays a pivotal role at El Museo as its key liaison to community, cultural, and government agencies, serving a broad constituency of not-for-profit organizations, grassroots leaders, schools, coalitions, and public offices. The Senior Manager is responsible for overseeing all activities relating to advocacy, public funding, and government and community relations.
Reporting to the Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director, the Senior Manager prepares city, requests and related reports, sometimes in collaboration with El Museo del Barrio’s development team. They work with public agencies, consortia, and alliances to help develop and implement cultural policies and respond to requests from elected and community officials on matters relating to the museum and the arts. The Senior Manager will seek and facilitate opportunities through public programs, collaboration and partnership with community organizations, libraries, universities, senior centers, civic groups, government entities and cultural organizations; these are to provide greater access to new and non-traditional museum audiences, in particular Latino audiences throughout the New York–metropolitan area.
El Museo del Barrio seeks a Digital Marketing Manager who will be a key contributor to the Museum’s digital marketing, communications, and content strategies. This role is responsible for the implementation and tracking of website updates, digital and email marketing campaigns, collaborating on social media strategy and execution, and building awareness for El Museo del Barrio’s exhibitions, programming, and partnerships through robust content production and distribution across digital platforms. An experienced project manager, the Digital Marketing Manager is an integral member of the Marketing and Communications team and reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications. A successful candidate will be a collaborative, organized, self-starting professional who is dedicated to teamwork, execution, project management fundamentals, and the fulfillment of the Museums’ mission.
The Director of Education and Public Programs is responsible for the development and supervision of the Education and Public Programs Department. They will coordinate, plan, design and implement programs, approaches, and resources to serve schools, community-based organizations, El Museo’s constituencies and the general public. S/he will network with peers at other institutions, and develop relationships with the Department of Education, cultural and community-based organizations, institutions of higher education, and academic associations. S/he will work collaboratively to expand the Education and Public Programs component of El Museo and work with other departments to achieve and promote the department as well as achieve the overall museum goals and fulfill the Executive Director’s vision and direction. The Director of Education and Public Programs will report directly to the Executive Director and the Deputy Director and shall meet regularly to ensure communication on education and public programs content and programming.
Exhibitions Coordinator is responsible for the planning, design, budgeting, preparation, coordination, installation, maintenance, and de-installation of artworks in relation to upcoming Spring/Fall 2022 Exhibitions.
