Senior Graphic Designer

The Studio Museum in Harlem seeks a Senior Graphic Designer to lead creative production and advance the institution’s reputation as a 21st Century Museum dedicated to championing and incubating Black artistic vision. A key stakeholder in shaping and maintaining the Museum’s brand and visual identity, the designer will be a member of the Marketing and Communications team while working with internal stakeholders to identify needs and requirements for production of attractive and well-designed assets.

Note: This is a contract position with an intent to hire full time at the end of the contract term assuming satisfactory performance.

Graphic Designer

The Graphic Designer plays an integral role in the Brooklyn Museum’s Graphic Design Department. The designer is responsible for conceptualizing and designing innovative and compelling design for exhibitions, wayfinding, signage, publications, and print and digital projects, while maintaining and exploring the museum’s visual language in close collaboration with the other members of the design team.

Working in a highly collaborative studio setting, this role works on projects in all stages of the design process to support overall attendance and revenue goals, improve the visitors experience, and expand upon the Museum’s design language across visitor touch points.

The Graphic Design team is part of the Engagement division, a multifaceted team—including staff in digital communications, graphic design, marketing, merchandising, public relations, and visitor experience—responsible for leading the institution’s audience-engagement strategy with a focus on digital initiatives.

Graphic Design Intern

The Museum seeks a Graphic Design Intern who will assist the Design Director with layout and production of digital and print projects and exhibition design.

The Museum believes that traditional hiring practices have historically and systemically marginalized entire groups of people including people of color, people of different socio-economic backgrounds, women, people with disabilities, people in the LGBTQ community and veterans, to name a few. We strongly believe as an organization in deconstructing barriers and building a team that authentically represents the diverse communities, and backgrounds of New York City. The Graphic Design internship is designed to foster the interest of historically under-represented students who are interested in learning more about the museum profession. The Graphic Design intern, may work a flexible schedule both remote and onsite work will be required. Working approximately 10-20 hours a week, at a rate of $15/hour. Intern must commit to a minimum of 12 weeks.
