Patron Programs Assistant

The Public is seeking a temporary Patron Programs Assistant. This position is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to donors, as well as exceptional administrative and ticketing support to a busy Individual Giving team.


This is a temporary, hourly position at 30 hours a week. Hours may vary during peak production periods. Qualified candidates must be able to commit for an engagement of May 1st to September 1st, 2023.

The ideal candidate will be organized, excellent at tracking projects, an outstanding communicator, as well as administrative experience in database organization.

This is a hybrid role, and we expect this person to be in office Tuesday through Thursday of each week.

Call Center Representative – Part Time Remote

The Public is seeking a customer service-oriented, bright, and friendly person to join us on our Call Center Team to provide exemplary customer service to our guests as well as excellent administrative skills to help support our teams.

The ideal candidate will have experience in call-center ticketing and have a welcoming and friendly attitude. We’re looking for a thorough, efficient person with a flexible schedule and the initiative to work independently and as part of a team. Please note that this position will typically require sitting or standing for long periods of time using a computer.

Front Desk Attendant/Golf Cart Driver

The Operations Department is seeking part-time Front Desk Attendants to provide exceptional customer service at the 440 Lafayette Street (Public Studios) Information Desk. As a Front Desk Attendant, you will serve as the face of The Public for patrons and as a liaison between artists and staff, and between departments. As a Golf Cart Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and expedient transit of guests through Central Park to and from the Delacorte Theater.

People and Culture Manager

The part-time People and Culture Manager will lead and direct the functions of the People and Culture (Human Resources or HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits and leave, nurturing talent within an inclusive environment, communicating openly and frequently, and enforcing company policies and practices in a union work culture. Senior Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Manager

New York City Center (NYCC) is seeking a collaborative and skilled part-time Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Project Manager with experience in working closely with multiple cross-functional partners, and the demonstrated ability to leverage change management to drive process efficiencies. Seasonal Garden Assistant

Queens Botanical Garden is an urban oasis where people, plants and cultures are celebrated through inspiring gardens, innovative educational programs, and demonstrations of environmental stewardship.

QBG seeks individuals with an interest in public horticulture to assist with gardening work during the 2022 growing season. Duties and responsibilities include assisting horticulture staff in the planting, cultivating, and care of trees, shrubs, flowers and other flora as well as leading a group of 4-5 student youth in these same tasks for 6 weeks in July and August.

This is a part-time seasonal position. Positions are available for up to 28 hours per week from mid-March through mid-October with possible extension into November and include some weekend work. A flexible schedule may be worked out to accommodate school or other needs. Compensation is $18/hour.

Instructor (Part-Time, Seasonal)

The Education Department at QBG offers public events, school workshops and teacher training programs throughout the year following QBG’s mission of cultural connection to plants and ecological sustainability. The Garden seeks Instructors to fulfill our after-school program teaching needs in the coming season. Selected candidates will be assigned to conduct two to three half days classes either virtually or in person throughout the Queens community. Additional morning work may also be available.

Education Coordinator, Youth Programs (Part-Time, Year-Round)

QBG is seeking a part-time coordinator for non-school programs for children. The Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day running of these seasonal programs. The Coordinator helps create a welcoming environment for families. The Coordinator reports to the Education Manager and works closely with the Director of Education and other education staff to ensure the delivery of safe, organized, and fun youth programming.

Tours Outreach Coordinator

The Museum of the City of New York celebrates and interprets the city, educating the public about its distinctive character, especially its heritage of diversity, opportunity, and perpetual transformation. Founded in 1923 as a private, nonprofit corporation, the Museum connects the past, present, and future of New York City. It serves the people of New York and visitors from around the world through exhibitions, school and public programs, publications, and collections.

We are currently seeking a Part-time Group Tours Outreach Coordinator. The Group Experiences Coordinator reporting directly to the VP of Communications and Marketing, is responsible for the development and coordination of the group experiences at the Museum.

Volunteer Coordinator Intern

The Museum seeks a Volunteer Coordinator Intern to assist the VP of Education and Engagement with the administration of the Museum’s volunteer program. Duties include training, scheduling, and supervision (or assignment) of the organization’s volunteers.

The Museum believes that traditional hiring practices have historically and systemically marginalized entire groups of people including people of color, people of different socio-economic backgrounds, women, people with disabilities, people in the LGBTQ community and veterans, to name a few. We strongly believe as an organization in deconstructing barriers and building a team that authentically represents the diverse communities, and backgrounds of New York City. The Volunteer Coordinator internship is designed to foster the interest of historically under-represented students who are interested in learning more about the museum profession. The Volunteer Coordinator may work a flexible schedule both remote and onsite work will be required. Working approximately 10-20 hours a week, at a rate of $15/hour. Intern must commit to a minimum of 12 weeks.

Educator

Primary duties include:

  • Teach virtual and in-person school programming including academic year field trips, partnerships, teacher workshops and summer camps

  • Work with a team of education staff to implement programs for students from pre-K to 12th grade, including seasonal outdoor investigations and off-site programs

  • Perform administrative duties, such as program material maintenance and ordering of supplies

  • Other duties as needed

This is a part-time position, with a 16 hours per week schedule, ideally Tuesday-Friday from 9AM to1PM. The position will start in September with a commitment through though the academic school year, and the possibility to continue.

Museum Guide

The Museum Guide is responsible for making the Museum accessible to all different visitors by make the exhibitions come alive including, but not limited to, running group, private, and virtual experiences.

The Museum of the City of New York fosters understanding of urban life in NYC and engages visitors by interpreting the city’s past, present and future. Our Museum Guides make the connection for visitors between the Museum and the lived New Yorker experience.

Currently we are looking for freelance Museum Guides to lead experience of the following exhibitions; New York at Its Core, New York, New Music: 1980-1986, Activist New York and Puppets of New York.

This role pays $100USD per tour.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Lead 1-hour, in-person Exhibition Tours for groups of up to 25 people and/or 1-hour virtual experiences

o Required training will involve training on the tour (training pays $25/hr) and giving an observed test tour (test tour pays $100)

o Tours might be scheduled any day of the week, between 9am-5pm

  • Make our Exhibitions accessible to all audiences by being able to adapt information in a way that

    each visitor can relate to

  • Keep up-to-date on the subject matter of the tours you give
