The Director, Development (DD) is a full-time fundraising position responsible for creating, implementing, and managing a robust fundraising plan to achieve annual contributed revenue goals for the operating fund. The DD will engage, track, and manage a portfolio of individual donors and members, corporate and foundation funders. The position will involve grant writing and management, prospect research, individual donor support and stewardship (including major gift solicitation), and support for year-round member and fundraising events, including the annual gala. Snug Harbor’s contributed revenue underwrites programs in the arts, gardens, farm, education, and workforce development.
This position reports to the Executive Vice President (EVP), who oversees fundraising, board development, government relations, and capital funding. The DD oversees a full-time Grants & Membership Coordinator. The DD will be an integral partner in Snug Harbor’s fundraising strategy, taking a lead role in growing the share of private support as part of Snug Harbor’s operating revenue. Internally, this position will interface with the President & CEO, Senior Directors of Regional Brand Experience, Community Impact, and Campus Administration, and the Board of Directors’ Development Committee. Externally, the DD will engage with funding organizations and program officers, Snug Harbor donors and members (current and prospective). Some evening and weekend work may be required.
The Event Partnerships Manager (EPM) oversees existing and potential short-term business relationships and contracts that support the mission and financial goals of the organization. This position supports the management of fundraising and ticketed events as required. The EPM actively cultivates clients and identifies opportunities for programmatic rental and/or partnership events, commercial film and photo shoots, festivals, conferences and all manners of short-term earned income activity which maximize revenue, attract new audiences and/or advance our values including DEIA goals.

The Education Manager (EM) is an enthusiastic, polished, detail-oriented professional playing a crucial role on the Community Impact team. Community Impact team (CI team) provides access to an open-site, offers not-to-be-missed, transformative experiences, and maintains reliable, consistent service. The highest priority is ensuring a positive visitor experience for diverse audiences. Education provides programming to students, seniors, tourists, and any group that services curious minds. While acting as a liaison with patrons, programming and security staff, the position is responsible for programs, staff scheduling and site-wide activations. The EM plays a crucial role in developing the learning agendas for staff and patrons, supervising the education team, maintaining and increasing professionalism and providing operational support. The EM is responsible for purchasing, payments, and invoice reconciliations for programs. The position also works with the Service Learning Coordinator to expand Snug Harbor’s volunteer program with a goal of increasing organizational capacity, developing skill sets and expertise throughout the community, and improving patron experience. The Community Impact Coordinator (CIC) is an enthusiastic, polished, detail-oriented professional playing a crucial role on the Community Impact team. The Community Impact team (CI team) provides access to an open site, offers not-to-be-missed, transformative experiences, and maintains reliable, consistent service across all public-facing reception. The CIC supports the Senior Director, Community Impact (SDCI), and the CI team in many capacities. The highest priority is on ensuring a positive visitor experience for diverse audiences. The CIC works with a broad variety of clients to coordinate reliable, consistent service across all educational programming for students, seniors, tourists, and any group that services curious minds. The CIC manages the team calendar and designated administrative duties with discretion and precision, collaborating regularly with other departments. The CIC safeguards and improves the patron experience by maintaining and increasing professionalism and providing the professionalism of the Education staff, providing operational support. The Community Impact Coordinator reports to the Senior Director, Community Impact (SDCI).
The Groundskeeper is an essential member of the Horticulture Department. The primary responsibility is to care for the lawns, gardens and plant life of Staten Island’s only botanical garden.

SHCC seeks applicants for the position of Safety & Security Associate in the Security Department. Reporting to the Security & Safety Manager, the primary responsibility will be to lead the security program and the team in keeping SHCC safe and accessible for staff, constituents, tenants and visitors. The Visitor Services Associate (VSA) provides customer service to visitors of Snug Harbor, ensuring a positive experience by acting as a friendly and informed first point of contact. VSAs are stationed at critical locations throughout campus to welcome visitors, to provide information, access and support, and to direct people toward relevant programs. The VSA offers comprehensive information about the site and its programming to all visitors, looking for opportunities to provide a deeper visitor experience. This position reports to the Senior Manager, Education & Visitor Services (SMEVS), with training and supervision provided by the SMEVS and established Visitor Services Associates.
